China has voiced strong dissatisfaction with the Dalai Lama"s invitation to a human rights activity in Geneva.

Solemn representations have been lodged following reports saying the Dalai Lama was invited for a conference of Nobel peace prize winners on the sidelines of a UN human rights meeting in Geneva.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei said the U.S. side insisted on inviting the Dalai Lama regardless of China"s firm opposition.

He added that the Dalai Lama is a political exile who has long been engaged in activities aiming to split China and is not entitled to talk about human rights.

Hong Lei also urged relevant countries to stop making use of the Tibet issue to interfere in China"s domestic affairs.
